In today’s economy, we had to come up with a way to cut cost. We did not want to lay people off. We are a small company and are more like a family. In order to cut cost, we decided to go completely paperless.

Using our computers for business automation was the smartest way to convert our processes from paper to electronic. In doing so, we were able to save the company enough capital to avoid having to lay anyone off.

After hearing him complain for years, after graduating from college, I made it my goal to help eliminate this problem. Upon entering the family business, I noticed that most employees were not using their computers for business; instead they were just being used if needed. I was able to create a few basic programs that enabled the front office, the warehouse and sales staff to use their computer for business. I basically brought the company into the 21st century.

They were now able to enter all orders directly into their computer. This would automatically create a log where you could than track any order. At the end of the day, the order log will be sent to the warehouse for verification. At the end of the week, all the shipping logs will be sent to the sales staff for follow up calls.

We created an intranet, where upon entering any order they were simultaneously sent directly to the warehouse and the salesperson. Since the orders are sent directly to the warehouse, the orders can be process and shipped immediately.
