When it comes to that car, you should not avoid it simply because it does not have an automatic transmission. Believe it or not, driving a standard transmission is not that hard to do. In this day and age, the standard has become pretty popular, depending on where you live. In the United Kingdom, you will find a lot of standard cars going down the road. However, in America, they are not as common. It is because they prefer to drive automatics. Personally, we believe the standard is the best type of transmission. Are you ready to get rid of your fears and learn to drive standard transmission? If so, then we highly recommend you reading this article.

Take note that you do not have to be from the UK to drive one of these beasts and you do not have to be a guy. We’re a female from the United States and our Ford Mustang is standard. Were we afraid of it at first?

Nope. You see, we were taught to stare things in the eye and conquer it. Would you like to do the same? Okay then, continue forward with this article.

In order to learn to drive the standard, you will need to put your mind to it. As long as you take the ‘left foot’ approach, you will find it easy. What is the left foot approach that we are talking about? This may seem simple to you, but you will need to put all of your focus on that left foot. Let the coordination of the left food become equal to the right foot.

This sounds real simple, but when you train that left foot to be in coordination, you will be smoothly gliding down the road.

The left foot is the clutch foot and the right foot will be the gas and brake foot. In order to get going without stalling, you need to be in sequence with one another. If you let up off of the clutch too much, it is going to stall.

We believe that one of the best ways to learn is to sit in the car and practice the mechanisms of shifting. You do not need to move the car until you have these mechanism down pat.

Go to a parking lot, with the engine off, learn the mechanisms of shifting the gears and pushing the clutch down. You see, the trick to learn to drive standard transmission all revolves around learning how to do it before you get moving. Once you learn the basics of it and know what to do, it will be time to get moving.
