It doesn’t matter, if your buying a PS3, a XBOX 360, a PS3, a iPhone, Wii, or a Dsi. If your one of the first in line to buy one, you get to pay a little extra. It makes me wonder why people stand in those lines for just that privilege. I however tend to be a little late to the party, and get to play with the same toys, for less money. When it comes to getting cheap games for the Wii, I know just where to look.

You’ve probably noticed the games shelves in your favorite video store full of the latest Wii, Xbox, and PS3 games. They usually rent for a little more than that DVD your holding in your hands, and a whole lot less then the price of a new Wii console game.

The other alternative, is renting by mail, with a monthly membership fee. The fee is fixed, and usually around $20 give a take a little. The nice thing is, you can play as many games as you like every month. You usually pick a game of their website, they send it to you via mail, you play it till your bored, send it back, then they send you another.

As with anything, there are pros and cons to this way of renting games. Having to exchange games all the time, can sometimes be a pain. But, having a huge selection to choose from is a big advantage. Game rental companies usually have thousands of titles to choose from. They’re sort of like a library, but with games, instead of books. The other rather obvious advantage, is price.

Most Wii console owners are families. Family gamers, don’t usually spend a lot of time staying on top of the latest game reviews, so renting makes a lot of sense. Better than paying full price for a lemon of a game.

While, everyone knows you can download games from the internet onto your PC, it seems a little less publicized, that you can do the same thing with your Wii. Their called WiiWare, and their usually pretty inexpensive. They usually go for less than $10. I think some owners are either a little reluctant to hook up their Wii to the internet, or just don’t know how. It’s actually pretty easy, if you already have wireless at home.

If you haven’t thought of my final suggestion yet, I’m a little surprised. Everyone should buy at least one used Wii game, just for the experience of it. Everyone gets bored of their games at some point, and could use a little extra cash for a new one. This is where you need to jump in. You can usually get a very good game for about half price. And, it’s better than stealing them from your friends when their not looking ;)

Another tip to keep in mind when buying Wii games (or any games for that matter), is to try and wait a while. Never buy a game just as it hits the store shelves. Especially the big anticipated titles. They almost always get cheaper a couple of months down the road. You’d be amazed, at the great games you can find in a bargain bin.
