Document shredding is used widely as it is a very secure way to destroy client’s sensitive and personal information. Companies can do their own document shredding in-house, they can use an off-site professional shredding company or utilize the services of a mobile professional shredding company.

Document shredding is becoming increasingly important as identity theft is increasing. To protect you and your accounts document shredding is preferred and used extensively. Small in-house shredders are great for families who do not have many documents to shred. But if you frequently shred a lot of documents then you may want to use a professional shredding company.

Mobile professional document shredding companies are just that, mobile. A truck containing shredding equipment will come to your company and shred all of your documents, perhaps in the parking lot. Or you can box up all of your documents and ship them to an off-sit professional shredding company that shreds all of your papers at its own facilities.

This is completely up to the company and may vary between businesses.

You don’t need any equipment taking up space, there are no maintenance fees, there is no noise or paper dust, you don’t need to remove folders, staples, rubber bands or paper clips, and shredding companies recycle all of the shredded documents.

The law states that important personal or business documents must be discarded in a safe way that eliminates any chance of identity theft. Therefore most businesses will have a paper shredder. Cross cut shredders cut paper both lengthwise and widthwise and produces paper that looks like confetti. Strip cut shredders simply shred papers lengthwise producing strips. The amount of shredding you need, will determine the machine as different machines can handle varying amounts of work before needing to cool off. You also may need to purchase lubricating oil to make sure paper is threaded throw the machine without getting stuck.
