For a start you cannot lose something which is not yours. In case of your ex lovers, this is very common. Most of us find it difficult to forget them, move on so that you will be letting go of the past.
It is most likely that you will suffer from some sort of degree of depression simply because it is found to be part of the grieving caused by the loss you suffer. Very few people realize how intense the pain is and the way they act, humiliating at the best of times during the breakup period, is all related to the trauma they are suffering.
What happened or who did what is not important anymore. Just forget about it, forgive them and get on with your normal life. You should not have any expectations either from life or future and just take each day as it comes by.
Just let your sorrow flow out in the form of tears. You will feel better once you have had a round of crying. You will start looking up to life after you have grieved.
Look for ways to get over the sorrow like God and beliefs. This may make you traditional and superstitious, but its worth trying. Keep your heart open, do not close the doors and keep grieving inside. This way you are making it hard for yourself.
Focus on yourself and not the other person. Pity yourself and find happiness within you. Fill up your loneliness with your activities and work. You have it in you and can make it happen.
When pain come back and knock on your door after a while again, accept and acknowledge it but do not foster it. Become consciously aware of the existing moment. Notice positive things around you. The more you do this, the more will you start to keep the past a distant memory.
Everybody loves to say forgiveness sets you free, up to that moment where you need to be the one that have to forgive. Then it becomes more easily said than done! However, what or who ever you might blame for the loss of your relationship, bitterness will prolong the negative feelings you have. Although you may not forgive the person/s in person at least do it in your heart.
